We are Stephanie and Johan, the people behind Paw & Property. With our extensive experience, calm demeanour and genuine love for animals, we look after your dogs and cats on special occasions.
Whether you’re getting married, celebrating or just taking some time out, we’ll look after your furry friend with sensitivity, attentiveness and an instinctive understanding of their needs. We react intuitively, plan ahead, and ensure that your pet feels not just well looked after, but truly seen. They will enjoy calmness, security – and, of course, a few treats.
What we do is a combination of instinct, planning and heart. (And, honestly, our hearts are full of pet hair.)
We understand how much trust it takes to hand over responsibility for your cat or dog, especially on a special day like your wedding. This is why it is such an honour for us to be there for your four-legged darling, providing reliable companionship with heart, mind and respect.
It all started on the other side of the world: in New Zealand. Back then, we took time off to travel for two years and travelled around New Zealand and Australia. We started with a new concept: Housesitting – live-in care of pets and houses, while the owners were away on holiday. This is how we travelled from North to South and back, getting to know the “real” country.
Inspired by this experience, we decided to return to Switzerland and offer pet parents in Basel, what many have been missing until now: personal, reliable and trustworthy care for dogs and cats during holidays, business trips or an important event on the weekend.
In January 2023, the small family business celebrated its sixth anniversary. The next step for Paw & Property was to offer high-quality and intelligently designed products for dogs and cats to go with the exclusive care services in Basel, which make living together functionally coherent while still catering your style needs. maisonBo was born and launching in spring 2024.
Next came a whole new market in 2024, that Stephanie was already familiar with through her event management experience in the most luxurious hotel in Basel: Weddings! Having planned 17 wedding celebrations in the Les Trois Rois, Stephanie knows her way around this important day and together with her husband Johan she has created a wedding care package for dogs to dream about.
Our Wedding Care service started with a friend’s request and a Jack Russel named Baxton. My best friend Anne, marrying in Hamburg, gave me a call. She asked if I could care for Baxton for the weekend and bring him to their wedding day. I said yes without hesitation – because honestly, it sounded like a dream. But as the weekend unfolded, something clicked.
Everyone had their role. The planner, the photographer, the florist. But no one was fully focused on Baxton’s experience – until we stepped in. We tuned into what he needed, adjusted in real time, and made sure Anne and her husband didn’t have to think about his wellbeing for a minute.
Yes – that’s Baxton and his family below (isn’t he adorable?!). He’s the reason our wedding care service was born. And he’s the reason we built a service that answers the question so many couples don’t even realize they’re asking: How can I be the kind of dog parent I always am… on the day I want to be fully present with everyone else I love? You hire us.
At Paw & Property all love and all pets are welcome. We care for the small and the large, the young and the old. If your dog or cat has any special needs, just let us know and we can work towards an individual care plan for you.
