The golden leaves rustle in the avenue along the Rhine, a white-grey mist settles over the nearby bank on the Kleinbasel side. Chestnut-coloured boots, knitted hat and a playfully jumping and sniffing poodle at her side, this is how Stephanie Thieme, the co-founder of Paw & Property, experiences a typical autumn day with dog care. “I made a profession out of my love for animals,” says the Berlin native woman with a smile.
It all started on the other side of the world, in New Zealand. “Back then, my husband and I took time off to travel and travelled around New Zealand and Australia with housesitting, live-in care of pets and houses, while the owners were away on holiday.”
Inspired by this experience, Stephanie and her Swedish husband Johan Söderberg decided to return to their adopted country of Switzerland and offer in Basel what many Basel residents have been missing until now: personal, reliable and trustworthy care for dogs, cats and rabbits (or degu) during holidays, business trips or an important event at the weekend.
In January 2023, the small family business celebrated its sixth anniversary. The next step for Paw & Property was to offer high-quality and intelligently designed products for dogs and cats to go with the exclusive care services in Basel, which make living together functionally coherent while still catering your style needs. maisonBo was born and launching in autumn.
Paw & Property offers pet owners a piece of freedom by offering the most precious commodity we humans have – time – to a variety of four-legged friends in Basel. “In the future, we plan to offer our services way beyond the borders of Basel,” reveals the co-founder with a twinkle in her eye.
